HIGH BEAM would like to thank your for helping your student participate in our program. As an educator working with the applicant every day, we believe you can provide the best perspective on the student's current abilities, personality, work style, and potential. We're not necessarily looking for the natural go-getters. We'd love to find the students in whom you see great potential and just need help lighting a fire in their bellies and contextualizing their education. As such, we need your recommendation for the applicant.

We want to make this as easy as possible for you. You have two options for making a recommendation:

1. You can email recommendations@highbeam-foundation.org and set up a day/time for a brief phone or video call or

2. You can send a letter covering the following information:

• Your name, school name, subject you teach, and how we might able able to contact you with any questions

• Name of the applicant who you are recommending and confirmation of the student's enrollment in your school (If there is more than one person with that name in your school, please add an additional identifier such as grade level or student ID #)

• If you are able to provide/confirm a student's GPA, please do

• How long you have known the student and what subject(s) you taught him or her

• A brief description of the student's personality and work style

• A brief description of the student's potential and capacity to work hard toward a better future (although the most important measurement we need is that of potential)

• Why you think HIGH BEAM might be a good fit for the student

• Anything else you think we should know in order to consider the student's acceptance into the cohort.

 

Please submit via email from your school account to: recommendations@highbeam-foundation.org with the subject line "Teacher Recommendation: [student full name]". The student's application will not be considered complete without your recommendation so please submit at your earliest convenience. ​
