Do you want “more” for yourself but are unsure about what “more” means? If your answer is yes and you’re a first or second year high school student, you’ve come to the right place.

HIGH BEAM helps shed light on possibilities and opportunities you might not have known existed. Our two-year program consists of four phases: create, learn, observe, and grow. Each phase may contain elements of the others and they may overlap at times, but they are all crucial to a successful HIGH BEAM experience.

HIGH BEAM
FOUNDATION

Do you want to see and learn more about opportunities that can lead you to a brighter future? Learn how to identify them and take advantage of them? If your answer is yes and you’re a first or second year high school student, you’re in the right place.

The HIGH BEAM Foundation Program believes that college is an important stop on the way to your future. We're here to help shed light on why it matters and on possibilities and opportunities you might not have known existed. Our two-year, sponsored program consists of four phases: discover, learn, observe, and grow. Each phase may contain elements of the others and they may overlap at times, but they are all crucial to a successful HIGH BEAM experience.

Discover

This is the travel portion of the program. We believe in the transformative power of travel to help create not only new experiences, but also discover new parts about ourselves. This happens by experiencing new people, places, and situations... which then shed light on the people, places, and situations we’d like to experience in the future. Experienced travelers will confirm that this power is hard to ignore and can fuel your daily life.

The 2023 cohort will travel June 17-24, 2023.

Learn

Returning from travel unlocks the opportunity to experience five personal development tracks. These tracks take you on a journey through subjects that are not academic, but will provide you tools to help you build your own success in high school and college while also helping cultivate soft skills for a professional career. We will meet as a group once or twice a month to work on these tracks: self-awareness and care, time management, communication, personal finance, and College 101. Completion of each track unlocks the next.

Observe

While we believe that the journey is as important as the destination, we also think that knowing where you want to go helps you travel in the right direction. High school is just the right time to explore interests that will help inform what colleges and majors to consider. And if we learned our travel lesson well, we know that experiencing a variety of new things can help us learn about ourselves. To that end, this observation phase will take us on journeys to local companies and to hear about a variety of careers, how people got to where they are, and what it took to get there.

Grow

As far as experiences go, learning from the people who have already traveled the road you want to travel is as eye-opening as it gets. That’s why we believe it’s crucial for students to have two mentors: one college student and one working professional. Not only will periodic conversations give you an insider’s perspective on their experiences, they will also help you get customized answers to questions you may have — something that is much more difficult to achieve in a brief company visit.

Tutor and Student

Do you want “more” for yourself but are unsure about what “more” means? If your answer is yes and you’re a first or second year high school student, you’ve come to the right place.
